friends on the beach

Since our dogs were home with Jenn, here is the evidence of the nice beach.we will take a drive when Cathy comes!

Future Reunion ?

We camped at Cape Lumiere near Rexton. A lighthouse was across the street on the Northumberland Strait. 500 yards away is a harbour where fisherman will deliver lobster to the trailor. Beside that is a 5 mile sandy beach with no cottages on it- plus dogs are allowed. They have 3 cottages to rent also. Sounds perfect!

retirement

Cy's first retirement party was sponsored by the NBTA Saturday. They had a lobster dinner. Here is a picture of us at Jenn's before.

Hey Everyone

Hello!
I thought I would write a message and post some pictures in here since I've been telling Aunt Cathy and mom and I would! My summer is going really well, my summer job is great, and living on my own isn't that bad. My course on the other hand is going to be time consumming, but I hope that it will work out in the end (I should be studying right now, procrastination never really helps...) Anyways, I miss you all lots!!!! I can't wait to see everyone this summer. Here are some pics from my camera of the fam! Looks like you all had a nice vacation in Hawaii you all looked amazing!
Love you!!!

More signs of Spring

This one dropped off the entry from the last one. The green thumb must be tried to the female side of the family. All my sisters have great gardens. Posted by Picasa

Flowers in Halifax

These are flowers from Janice and Bob's Lawn.
Great spring day in Halifax. I think mom stayed up late last night reading her new Agatha Christie book.

Pat and Friends

I had a great visit with Pat and Cy last night. She showed pictures of the site of the next Clan reunion. We watched the Oilers try to loose after a 4-0 lead but alas the Mighty Duckys wanted the loss more. 8 goals in the third period almost riviled the 8 fights in the first. Posted by Picasa

Mom May 22, 2006

Mom looks great. She is in good spirits and has a very healthy appetite. She is not shy to tell you (me) what she is thinking. I found out last night that the toffee that I have been buying for her the past several years is the "cheap" stuff and it is like comparing a "pot roast to prime rib ". I guess life at Mellish manor is pretty good if the selection of candy is a sore point.  Posted by Picasa

I want to be a Cow Girl!

A few years ago when mom came to visit she had a list of thing she wanted to do. Go to the zoo (formerly St Georges Island) , See Marion Carson School where she taught in Vulcan, go to Banff and Waterton where she was a chambermaid at the Prince of Wales hotel and to ride a horse. When two days into the trip she had not checked off any of items on the list she sat her son down and reminded him of her goals. Needless to say that night we went out to visit Benji (Beaner), saddle up and go go fo a ride. Check that off the list. With Calgary's growth, this is now a sub division.

A fun and fattening Mother's Day

Mom and I had a wonderful Mother's Day. We started the day with breakfast by Bob, followed by relaxation with the Sunday paper. Next, hairdresser extraordinaire (Janice), washed and set mom's hair (but no attempt to cut it, Cathy!). Mom wore a bright pink crew neck, long sleeved sweater and navy pants for the occasion and with a little make up and gold jewellery(including her diamond band), looked absolutely radiant!
Janice made biscuits, lemon tea cakes and pecan butter tarts for the afternoon tea party. Next came setting the table for tea, with a white cotton cut- lace table cloth with an inlay of mauve and sea green. The centre piece was a lovely teapot of white china with gold trim and delicate pink china roses on the lid and side of the tea pot. The tea pot was filled with a variety of light, medium and dark tea roses....a wonderful mother's day gift from Cathy, Larry and Ian, and a much talked about centre piece!. Small clear glass tea plates were arrnaged at each place, accompanied by sunshine yellow napkins, china tea cups (from Bob's mom, so she was with us in spirit too!). The biscuits were placed on a yellow linen napkin in a small wicker basket, along with strawberry jam in a small crystal dish, a plate of cheddar cheese, butter, and plates of lemon tea cakes and pecan butter tarts, a china tea pot, cream and sugar dishes, completed the table.
Mom, surrounded by the Mellish clan, was then presented with a large, sea green wicker basket, which was filled with candy( three types of toffee, chocolates, cookies, popcorn, licorice alsorts, gum, dog biscuits (from Shadow), sour soothers, Pringles, a Celtic pewter letter opener, a hard covered murder mystery, 3 pairs of warm, cozy socks, People magazine, a bouquet of flowers and a small mama bear (with a dress and hair ribbon), cuddling a baby bear. The basket was wrapped in clear cello with a pretty pink, yellow, green and purple pattern and topped with ribbons to match. The basket was from David & Mame, Pat & Cy and Janice & Bob. Mom had a great time opening it and commenting on the various goodies. The opening of the basket was followed by phone calls from all the children, and mom enjoyed this greatly. Uncle Tommy also called to wish mom and I a happy mother's day. Next came the tea party and first to arrive were Carol and Hayward, who brought a a beautiful spring bouquet of flowers for mom and we all enjoyed great conversation and fattening goodies. Who next to arrive but Colleen, who brought a lovely bouquet of flowers for mom, delicious florintine cookies (a scor like cookie, dipped in chocolate!) and lots of laughter and fun.
Next to arrive was Carol MacLennan who brought a home made delicious chocolate mother's day cake and also added lots of fun to the table. Well, we all had bunches of fun, and mom was the centre of attention, and enjoyed every moment of it.
Mom also enjoyed the many cards she received from her children and grandchildren and was heard to say several times throughout the day and evening "what a wonderful day this was! ".
Although you couldn't be with us in person, we certainly felt your presence and I wanted to take the time to write a descriptive account of the wonderful day we enjoyed. Love to all

Happy Mothers Day Mom! Where have they years gone and how did you get time to do all the things that you have done in your life. From the years in No. 2 where dimes can cause lightning bolts and Thunder loud enough to keep you on the right track. Teaching and riding and having fun in Alberta. Married with 5 children who now have grown up children of their own. Soon to be a Great Grandmother (Jimmy and Sarah before other rumors start spreading and I get in trouble for another 25 years).

You have raised your children well and for that we are thankful.

Happy Mothers day to all the current mothers who have also raised stong families.

Have a great day.

The Bounty Hunter

For all you 'DOG' fans....I made Larry & David take me to the offices of "DaKine Bail Bonds" in Honolulu - I was searching for 'Dog the Bounty Hunter'...one of my favorite reality shows!
(they were all home searching for Easter eggs that day!)

Molly McJannet

This is Molly in March in her favorite place to sunbathe - not bad for for 12 years old!

The Missing Hat

Larry insisted that his hat ( a clone of Dave's) was on tight in a very windy Maui...the hat lasted about 5 minutes before taking off across the waters!

Sweet Tan!

This is what that that good celtic skin looks like after pretanning and a week in the sun. Imagine how dark I was after two weeks! The MacDonald curse of age. A long way from my bronzing days in my youth. Posted by Picasa
